This is a custom-designed daybed, conceived by Amir Farr for clients Joseph and Anne Strick for their Oscar Niemeyer-designed 'Strick House' in Santa Monica, California in 1963. Amir Farr was the interior designer for the home, and he specified for the piece to be made using stained Douglas Fir for the top surface. The square tubular legs are made of stainless steel. We have had the cushion professionally upholstered in Knoll Ferry fabric in the Whitehall colorway, which has a chunky weave and resembles a shade of light oatmeal. The contrast between the muted, neutral upholstery and the dark wood is striking.
This daybed measures 38.25 inches deep, 74 inches wide, and 11.75 inches high. The upholstery is in perfect shape as it is new, and we have intentionally left the base in its original condition to showcase its history. The corners show signs of wear, and the legs show scuffs and scratches. The legs also show some light rust. Overall, this daybed is in good condition. Please see photos.
