This is an uncommon Daybed, designed in circa 1958 by Richard Schultz for Knoll International. Around the same time, Florence Knoll & Charles Niedringhaus were designing their own set of convertible sofas at Knoll; perhaps this was Schultz’s iteration of the model 703 omitting its removable backrest. We believe its design and production were executed in the early 1960s. The piece includes tubular steel legs, and the legs have a matte black powder coat finish. The upholstery is done in a creamy off-white hopsack fabric that is in very good condition.

This daybed measures 38 inches long, 74.5 inches wide, and is 20 inches tall. The fabric is still bright and clean, with a bit of dirt apparent around the edges of the seat. There is one small abrasion to the fabric near the piping as photographed. The powder-coat on the steel legs has some small scrapes, but presents well. Overall, this piece is in good original condition with some wear. Please see photos.
