ProRep Silkworm Chow

The ProRep Silkworm Chow has been developed specifically for supporting silkworms. Silkworm get all their nutritional needs and moisture intake from one specific food source, White Mulberry Leaves (Morus alba). With silkworms being a soft bodied larvae it is important that they have a food source to help maintain them. The ProRep Silkworm Chow is made with powdered mulberry leaves and has been fortified with vitamins and minerals to help keep silkworms well nourished.

In order to ensure the food is taken up by the silkworm it is essential that the powder is mixed with water (1 powder, 3 parts water) and then brought to a boil to ensure the gelling agent sets properly. Once this has been done it is important to let the product cool to room temperature. The product will be set like a rubbery gel and can be sprinkled into the silkworm tub.

They will not require much feeding, and it is best that all the food provided has been eaten, remove any uneaten food from the container. You will probably notice that the silkworms will produce noticeably more waste as a result of having food. Clean out as much as you can if the silkworms are being kept in the tub for a few days. You will only need to feed the silkworms once every 2 to 3 days and can be maintained with as little as 1g of powder per feed, per tub.
