Here comes the sun! The intense golden new growth of these sturdy vines holds its color well into the warmth of summer, when a bit more green begins to temper the yellow tones. Grown more as an ornamental accent than for the brewing of its flowers. Hops die back to the ground each winter and then explode with rampant upright growth each spring; mature Golden hop plants can grow over 30' in a single season! Young shoots may be used in salads or as an asparagus substitute. These fast-growing herbaceous vines quickly cover wires or a trellis to make an attractive screen, decorate an arch, or provide shade against a sunny wall.
Space plants at least 8’ apart in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Less fussy about soil quality, moisture and ph than most brewing varieties of hops. Cold hardy to USDA zone 3.
