This is a Bench-Made French Oak Sideboard dating to the 1940s. The piece is attributed to Paul Dupré-Lafon, a designer and architect who is well-known for his coveted French Modernist Art Deco furniture.
This sideboard splits into two separate pieces for moving and installation. The wood features a dark brown stain which nicely amplifies the grain, and the design offers numerous sliding doors and hidden compartments. The original cylindrical steel pulls remain intact, and the exposed slide rails add a fabulously French feel to the design.
With ample provenance, the piece was most recently purchased in 2004 via WYETH for the Pierce Allen interiors firm. The receipt indicating the $25,000 purchase price will be included in the sale, an important aspect to consider when dealing with investment-grade furnishings.
This cabinet measures inches 20 inches deep, 168.5 inches wide, and 41.5 inches high. There are some minor scratches and scuffs on the frame, and there are a few veneer chips on the bottom of the base. Overall, this piece is in good condition. Please see photos.
