Amrut Distilleries Private Limited began in 1948 under the name and style of Amrut Laboratories. Amrut Distilleries made rapid strides to entrench itself as a significant and preferred supplier of Indian Made Liquor.
In the 1980s, Amrut ventured into the distillation of malts with the aim of producing class-leading whiskies. In 2004, Amrut Single Malt was launched at Cafe India, a leading restaurant in Glasgow.
Amrut's Two Continents is produced from barley grown in India's northwest provinces. It is distilled and initially aged in Bangalore before being transported to Europe to finish in more mellow climes.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose: Suet pudding, oils and banana milkshake.
Taste: Beautiful delivery. A stunning meeting of juicy barley, soft fruits and delicate yet persistent spices; a light oiliness helps the more complex notes glide to all parts of the palate, and some muscovado sugars make light of any oaky encroachment; the middle ground heads towards chocolate milkshake.
Finish: The finish is long, with the slowest build-up of oaks on record. The spices continue to flit and fizz, and finally, vanilla takes hold for a vanilla-infused finish.
