Job Description

This position within the Strategic Solutions domain in the Product organization is focused on providing innovative wireless-based solutions for Enterprise customers. The Manager of Technology is responsible for managing a team of wireless-centric network technical resources supporting the Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES) Sales team, who work with Fortune 400 accounts. The team also supports the Verizon Wireless Sales teams on large M2M customer opportunities. This involves providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise in RF, Data Engineering, Application and Integration for strategic accounts to aid them in developing or implementing their mobility strategy, all while recognizing Product creation opportunities and emphasizing commercially and financially sound solutions. The Manager of Technology serves as a technical resource for executive briefings among customers at the C-level, including material preparation and presentation, technical lead for custom development as

required, and in some instances troubleshooting for new or existing customer solutions across customer and their solution partners. Focus is on several verticals including Utility & Industrial, Manufacturing, Finance & Professional Services, Transportation, Media and Retail. Travel is expected to be a minimum of 25% to support external and internal customer meetings. Additional responsibilities include supporting Marketing and Strategy with insight on Enterprise customer requirements, advocating best practices for Network in areas related to Enterprise support and engagements, and support for Legal and teams responsible for RFPs.

The Manager of Technology is responsible for developing and motivating the technical staff and holding them accountable to deliver best-in-class Network solutions that exceed the customer’s expectations while upholding Verizon’s network requirements. This includes analyzing technical solutions for large-enterprise accounts and ensuring recommendations made have technical, financial and competitive advantages for Verizon, as well as identifying gaps in current or planned product and service offerings and providing feedback recommendations.

This position will share responsibility with one other Manager of Technology for addressing and attending Enterprise technical engagements throughout the United States. This position manages up to four remote resources. Other Texas, West Area and Midwest Area work locations will be considered.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate should be extremely knowledgeable on how the Verizon Wireless network is architected as well as how to design and integrate solutions into the network utilizing PLM/VZLaunch processes as necessary, including use of VLSS and DFLSS tools and framework. The candidate must have a full understanding of the impacts of any new feature on the existing operation and performance of the network. A qualified candidate must be able to articulate customer needs internally so they can be translated into a finished product. Candidate requirements include all of the following:

o Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field, MS or MBA preferred.

o Minimum of 10 years experience with wireless technology in areas of RF engineering, data engineering or network operations CDMA and LTE proficiency is required.

o Highly proficient in understanding data network elements including PCF/RNCs, PDSN/FA/HAs, AAAs, and SGW/PGWs across technologies such as 1xRTT, EV-DO, and LTE. Proficiency in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture preferred.

o Proficient in Packet-Switched Data, TCP/IP, IPv6, ATM, SS7, VPN, VoIP, IMS, SIP, MPLS, routing protocols.

o Wireless application and device development experience preferred.

o Strong interpersonal skills – able to manage complex customer engagements across functional teams within VzW, VES, and Corporate teams, including Network (Planning, Development, Operations), Marketing, Finance, and Sales.

o Excellent communication and advanced presentation skills including demonstrated experience with executive level customer presentations.

o Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

o Ability to supervise remote technical resources.

o Proven ability to develop and implement interdepartmental processes and procedures designed to support common network and sales goals.
